l may need to get on ritalin for a couple years due to concentration issues in school. l am worried that once l get on it, coming off will produce long term problems. If anyone has gone through this, is this a legitimate concern?

Is ritalin psychologically addictive

I was on Ritalin for 10 years and now Adderall for 2. It is not addictive at the prescribed levels. I take a week long drug-free break every year and have never had any ill effects.

Ritalin is amphetamine basically.

If it were me I would take Strattera...the new ADHD med that is not a stimulant.

All stimulants have a great potential for chemical dependency..even if it is just physical addiction

I take Ritalin to treat ADD..its not psychologically addicting at all. However..take it just like the Doc tells you to...

Its only addicting when you ABUSE (i.e. crushing and snorting) it..

However I must say Ritalin has done WONDERS for me..ALL of my ADD symptoms dissapered ON THE FIRST DOSE!!!!!
